School honoured at Ofsted ceremony

A school is celebrating being deemed among the best in the class.

Davigdor Infant School in Hove has been honoured by the education inspectorate Ofsted at an awards ceremony for the most outstanding schools in the country.

Christine Gilbert, chief inspector of education, children's services and skills, praised the school for its dramatic improvement over the last three years.

It has gone from being rated as 'underachieving' in 2003, to 'satisfactory' in 2005 and then 'outstanding' in July 2008.

Headteacher Ged Cotton, who took over in 2005, said: “Everyone at Davigdor was naturally very pleased with the outcome of our inspection.

“It represented what could be achieved by committed team work, effective partnership with others and a vision relentless in securing the very best outcomes for children.

“I look forward to us all building on our success, working with our community to maintain our high standards and develop further our rich and exciting provision for learning.”
