Jesus appears on Brighton's West Pier

Some would say the West Pier needs a miracle if it is ever to be restored to its former glory. So it could be a good omen that nine-year-old May Townley, who spent Easter weekend with relatives in Brighton, spotted this Banksyesque stencil of Jesus on the wreckage.

May, a keen amateur photographer, sent the picture in to The Argus. She said: "I saw a face of Jesus on the West Pier in Brighton with my Aunt Ruth. I took the picture because it looked interesting and it had a halo of barbed wire around it."

Anonymous street artist Banksy is well known for his graffiti art in cities across the world. One of his best known pieces in Brighton is the picture of kissing policemen on the side of The Prince Albert pub in Trafalgar Street.

Perhaps they should arrange for Banksy to do one of David van Day - they could then issue a commemorative supplement.

well as he's a completely fictional character you can decide yourself what he'd look like.

I love it! This is my kind of publicity stunt, it really looks great, not nearly as good as my topiary Elvis figure on my pub in Worthing, but still pretty good for an amatuer. yes, come to the dolphin opposite wickes in worthing, to see Elvis in toppiary, on his stage, it's brilliant. - oh, did i mention how great the food is here ?

re; " One of his best known pieces in Brighton is the picture of kissing policemen on the side of The Prince Albert pub in Trafalgar Street" I feel I must point out that this was actually a photo of two policemen who have recently been suspended for possesion of class "A" drugs, but we're not allowed to comment on that story !
