Brighton man killed in M6 wrong-way death crash named

The Brighton man who died after driving his car the wrong way down a motorway has been named locally as Tauya Marengereke.

The 27-year-old was alone in his silver Ford Fusion when it crashed into another car carrying four men on the M6 near Birmingham at about 6am on Sunday.

Mr Marengereke was killed in the crash.

Three of the men in the other car also died and the fourth is still in hospital.

Police confirmed that Mr Marengereke had been driving the wrong way on the road when the cars collided.

A Facebook tribute site has been set up in his memory.

His sister, who asked not to be named, said he was a usually safe driver and that she was struggling to understand what had happened.

Did you know Mr Marengereke? Leave your tributes below or email Samuel Underwood or call him on 01273 544539.

Leave your tributes? He killed three people! It's them I feel sorry for.

I echo what others have said.
It was he who driving the wrong way up the motorway, not the other people who have lost their lives.
So I leave my tribute to those innocent people and their families.

Will the Argus please remove the last paragraph from Samuel Underwood's report. I find it offensive to the families who this idiot killed.

What about tributes for those innocent people who lost their lives. Why is it always the ones who cause these terrible situations that get the mention??

Until the outcome of the investigation/inques
t are known, any comments are pure speculation - accident or deliberate, it is sad that anyone has to die under such circumstances; driver and the other unfortunates caught up in this.

He was Zimbabwean - from a country which drives on the same side of the road as the UK (obviously, as a former colony of the Empire).

I will try to post a link to further details in standard HTML:

Obviously Canada was never part of the Empire or subsequent Commonwealth then!

My sympathies to the three men the guy killed by getting himself lost.

Four lives lost. All needlessly.

The facebook tribute page is full of praise for what a good guy he was but no mention of the poor guys he killed through his carelessness.

I read in quote from this guy's sister in a paper that said something about him being a very safe driver! That is so offensive! I'm sure the families of those people this 'ver safe driver' killed might disagree!
Disgusting!

I think the Argus should re-write the article and say a bit more about the other victims, instead of "three of the men in the other car also died". They were the innocent parties in this dreadful accident, yet the Argus seem only to be concerned about the person who caused their deaths.

Very sad.
Four people killed and some people want to score points off of each other.
Far more offensive than anything I've ever posted Ms Wadsworth?

This is the sad thing about what has happened. It could of been avoided

It was very likely an accident, not something this guy did on purpose, although I agree it's a bit distasteful to offer the opportunity to leave tributes to him on this website. Loads of brits drive abroad and I for one don't want to lose that right, therefore we can't condemn every foreigner that drives in the UK. I, like many others, am sick of the amount of foreigners who come into our country to sponge off us, but I believe this guy was a student. Think how many Brits flock to places like Spain and Australia to live and study. The world is a mass of different cultures and, as long as someone pays their way, the opportunity for people to explore these different cultures should continue. Life would be very boring if no-one ever left their country of birth.

OMG I think I know him. I think I went to High School with his sister, this is just so so sad. We are all so sad to here this and our thoughts and prayers go to his sister (who I will not name) and the rest of the family.

Some highly self righteous comments on here, but I ask you this:
Has anyone NOT had the feeling sometimes when driving that they could do something like this! If you deny it then I wouldn't get in a car with you..

It would have been respectful of the Argus to have at least mentioned the others killed by name...

Jo Wadsworth says...

To those saying we should be naming the others killed in the crash and asking for tributes too - I appreciate your point. However, the police have not yet released the names. As soon as they do, we will publish them.
In the meantime, I would ask that you stop speculating on the cause of the crash, out of respect for the families of all those killed.

Conor says...

Jo.
the only thing we could have speculated about is why he did what he did what he did, and we haven't.
The consensus here, is that The Argus shouldn't have asked for tributes.

You obviously have no experience in life, otherwise you wouldn't have said what you have. There should be an age limit of 14 for posting in this forum.Other than that,i'll leave it to someone who knows you to point out your IQ of 3 remark!
