Another act has been announced to play Europe's biggest extreme sports and music festival.

Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro will join a host of others playing The White Air Festival in September.

Thousands of people are expected to flock to Brighton beach for the event, which comes to the city for the first time this year from the Isle of Wight.

There will be 40 extreme sports on show.

The festival, which will be held on Madeira Drive, was founded by Nigel Howell, world champion windsurfer and British kitesurfing champion.

He said: “After 12 great years, we needed a bigger site which was easy for everyone to reach.

“The festival has gone from strength to strength. Although the Isle of Wight was a superb setting for the festival in its early years, Brighton beach compliments the ethos of the festival perfectly and we’re confident that with this setting, our top rate line-up, and over 40 extreme sports, that we’re set to put on one hell of a festival.”

The Cribs and White Lies, as well as Brighton rockers British Sea Power will join Biffy Clyro at the event.

A spokeswoman for the festival said: “The infamous stretch of beach at Brighton will be the setting for one jaw droppingly good display of the best sport and music talent around. This scorching line-up infused with some of the world’s most exhilarating sports all in one location is sure to finish the summer with a bang.”

The three-day event, from September 18 to 20, will feature a range of extreme sports such as World High Diving displays from a 30m tower into a 3m pool, windsurfing, BMX, surfing and the windsurfing freestyle and racing championships.

There will also be a display from the Red Arrows, RAF Falcons and Chinook helicopters.

Limited Early Bird Weekender tickets are available until July 12 and cost from £55.
