Police coaxed a man from a building who was threatening to harm himself.
The incident happened at Lansdowne Street, Hove, at about 6.30pm yesterday.
Witnesses reported seeing a man hanging from a window.
Officers called the fire brigade to help get the man down but managed to do so before firefighters arrived.
A spokesman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue confirmed that they had been called to the scene, but no action was taken.
Last night a spokesman for Sussex Police said the man was being interviewed and was now safe, but would not comment further on the incident.
