People injured in string of crashes across Sussex


Several people were injured in a series of road crashes around Sussex this weekend.

A 63-year-old man was cut free from his MGB Sprint car after a collision with a Toyota and a cyclist on Friday night.

The crash happened at about 5.50pm.

The man suffered a blow to the head and other injuries and was taken Royal Sussex County Hospital.

The driver of the Toyota and the cyclist suffered minor injuries.

A driver was arrested and a passenger taken to hospital after a car flipped onto its roof on Saturday afternoon.

The crash happened on the A29 near Shripney, near Bognor, at about 4.30pm on Saturday.

Police said the driver was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving. The injured passenger was taken to St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester suffering from minor injuries.

A man and a woman were hurt when a taxi they were travelling in was involved in a crash on the M23 yesterday lunchtime.

The crash happened on the northbound carriageway near Junction 9 at 1.06pm.

The Mondeo taxi, a Kia Sedona and a Volvo were involved.

The two passengers were not thought to have life-threatining injuries.

A motorcyclist was injured in a crash with a car on the A27 westbound near Hangleton, Hove, at about 1.30pm on Sunday.

He was taken to Worthing Hospital for treatment.
