Worthing man who stabbed friend to death jailed for life

A man who stabbed his friend to death during an argument has been found guilty of murder.

Kai Orgles, 19, used a knife to stab 26-year-old Syden Pearson five times in the chest and back before running from the scene.

Yesterday at Lewes Crown Court, Orgles was sentenced to life imprisonment. He must serve a minimum sentence of 15 years before he is eligible for parole.

Mr Pearson, from Worthing, and a friend bumped into Orgles and two friends as they left Tesco, near Shelby Road.

The group went back to Shelby Road but the home owner asked Orgles and his friends to leave. An argument broke out but they eventually left.

As Mr Pearson stood on the driveway outside the property, Orgles, of Moore Close, Worthing, ran towards him, punching him several times.

It was only once Orgles had fled the scene that the others realised Mr Pearson had been stabbed and had serious injuries.

The ambulance and Sussex Police were called but despite their best efforts to resuscitate Mr Pearson, he was pronounced dead on arrival at Worthing Hospital.

Following the verdict, Mr Pearson's family released a statement which said that despite having much personal tragedy in his life, he believed life was for living and always had a smile on his face.

The family added: “He was always willing to help a friend and share the little he had.

“Syden had many good friends – perhaps more than he realised – and his family are grateful to them for their offers of support together with the kind words and fond recollections they have of Syden.

“We have an immense debt of gratitude to all those witnesses who have come forward and given evidence during the trial. This took a great deal of courage and we are truly grateful to them all.

“We are also grateful to the police for all their support during this difficult time. Our heartfelt thanks go to those officers who administered first aid to Syden on the night and to all those involved in the subsequent investigation.

“Those who carry knives and are prepared to use them need to know that to do so will result in a long prison sentence.”

They said Orgles' sentence was about justice, not revenge, and that the senseless killing of a young man was not just a crime against him and his family but a crime against the whole of society which could not go unpunished.

Chief Inspector Howard Hodges, District Commander for Worthing, said: “Once again it brings the issue of knives, alcohol and public place violent crime to the fore.

“Orgles claimed he had the knife on him for self-defence, but that night he used it to take the life of someone else. There was no motive and no thoughts of the consequences of his actions.

“We will continue to work with the public and partners alike to tackle this type of offence and to eradicate – as far as possible – the threat of public place violent crime.”

Life should mean life, let scum like this rot until they drop dead.

Life should, indeed, mean life but the liberal lefty do-gooders who want us to 'understand' these 'poor teenagers' will ensure that it never does.
Time to go to the American system where a judge can sentence somebody to 99 years, maximum remission 20. If these scumbags realised that they actually were going to prison for the rest of their life it might make some of them stop and think.

We should also introduce stop and search properly with a minimum jail sentence for anyone carrying a knife not in its original sealed wrapping.

But the lefties won't let us do that because young blacks and Muslims might be stopped and searched and that would be racism.

The sentence of minimum 15 years is ridiculous. 35 years would be more appropiate. Deterrents to knife crime must mean a long prison sentence.

Who are these 'liberal lefties' everyone's moaning about, who apparently want the streets to be running with knife-wielding drunken teenagers? I am a liberal lefty, and I believe that murder under any circumstances should be ounished with a severe fixed jail sentence. I also believe that prisons should function as institutions of rehabilitation, so that when the convicted have fully served their sentences, they reappear in society well-adjusted, skilled and able to make a worthwhile contribution, rather than serving at a university for criminals which will establish a pattern of re-offending. I see no contradiction there, and nor do any of my liberal lefty friends. It's just stupid to pretend that people who have different political opinions from yourself are defending the indefensible. The truth's more complicated. Or should I resort to your own puerile level and name-call you as a bunch of fascist Daily Mail readers?

If he has taken a life he should spend his life in jail unless it turns out to be a miscarriage of justice case.

Yeah, the American system works because America has a really low murder rate, doesn't it?

Oh yes he will get what's coming to him. 15 years is not enough.

Well I hope that 15 yrs will be enough time to rehabilitate Kai! After all,it has taken his parents 19yrs to create this monster! If the prison service fail to rehabilitae this young man before he is released, (for which I believe is very probable)then they will be releasing a very dangerous and angry man! If this is an example of home education then maybe Kai's parents should reconsider their choice of education in the future! Lastly, I wonder what happened to the kitchen knife that Kai used to murder Syden? He never had time to change his blood stained clothes and was arrested at his house shortly after the stabbing! So what did he do with it? Would this not indicate a 3rd person was involved, after all he didn't deny stabbing Syden so why hide it?

There is no point in this one remaining alive so let's hope he does something decent and tops himself so his organs can be given to someone who deserves them.
There are loads of these pointless people populating the UK, jobless, thick, anti-social, scum.
His parents should have done the world a favour and used a condom instead of allowing this piece of genetic material to breathe life.
