A Brighton musician is one of the latest members of the public to get their moment of fame on Trafalgar Square’s fourth plinth.

Psychedelic DJ Bryan Whellams, 34, of Lorna Road, Hove, appeared on the hotspot today from 1pm to 2pm.

During his stint, he told The Argus he wanted to appear to raise money for the city’s branch of the RSPCA.

Smoking a celebratory cigar, he said he had learnt about the cause when he recently helped develop an advertising campaign to raise much needed funds for the animal charity.

He said appearing on the plinth was a “fantastic experience”, adding: “What better way to help raise more money for them?

“I wanted to do something to make a difference.”

Bryan took along a deck chair and his friend, Chimp le Singe, to share his time on the plinth.

Bryan also said he usually only has one cigar at Christmas but felt he could make an exception on this special day.

You can see Bryan in real time at www.oneandother.co.uk.

Donations are welcome at Bryan’s fundraising page..
