A man has been charged with murder over the death of a teenager in a nightclub.
Ben Lund, 19, died after being assaulted in The Funktion Rooms in Pevensey Road, Eastbourne, early on Saturday.
This afternoon 24-year-old Nicholas Sitko, of Mendip Avenue, Eastbourne, was charged with his murder.
He will appear before Eastbourne Magistrates Court in the morning.
Ben, who lived in the Old Town area of Eastbourne, had been on a Friday night out with friends when the assault happened in the basement of the club, known as The Sub Club.
A post mortem at Eastbourne District General Hospital confirmed the cause of his death was a subarachnoid haemorrhage, in which blood leaks out of blood vessels over the surface of the brain.
Shocked friends and acquaintances have continued to pay tribute to the popular window cleaner they described as “calm” and “caring”.
Last night more than 2,000 tributes had been left on a Facebook tribute site.
His brother Josh wrote on the site: “I just wanted to thank everyone for their comments. He was loved by a lot of people and never will be forgotten. He will live on in our hearts and I just want to let you know Ben I love you... thank you for being a good brother to me, you meant a lot.
REST.IN.PEACE my brother xxx”
Greg Lowe said: “One of the nicest guys I’ve known, Eastbourne won’t be the same without you. R.I.P Ben x.”
Sussex Police has interviewed a number of witnesses from the night and are continuing to review CCTV.
The Funktion Rooms, where drinks had been on sale for 99p on Friday night, is no longer sealed off.
