An elderly woman's body was found washed-up on a beach by members of the public.
Police and paramedics were called after the woman, believed to be in her 70s, was found at Lancing.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sussex Police said her death was not believed to be suspicious but investigations were being carried out.
She has not yet been formally identified but her next of kin have been informed.
