Pensioner Olive Creswell is on cloud nine today - as she celebrates her 99th birthday on the ninth day of the ninth month in 2009.

Mrs Creswell, a former nurse, even lives in room nine in her care home.

Her grandson Dan Creswell told The Argus: “Granny is such an amazing woman.

“She is full of the most amazing stories and she has spent her life caring for people.

“These things only come round once and it's nice for her to be the centre stage for once.

“She is a firm believer in natural remedies. Every day she takes her cod liver oil and garlic tablets “She also hates prescription medication and still doesn't take any despite her grand old age.

“I suppose this is her secret to long life.”

Mrs Creswell, who lives in Bexhill, has not asked much for her birthday.

When asked what present she wanted she merely asked for a cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit.
