A campaign for reduced speed limits across the city has received cross-party support.
Councillors from all parties on Brighton and Hove City Council have agreed to support a review to introduce 20mph restrictions on certain residential roads.
A Notice of Motion was submitted by Green Councillor Ian Davey.
Coun Davey said: “A default 20 mph speed limit would save lives, cut emissions, and increase the city’s overall well-being.
“The bottom line is that speed kills and the difference between 30mph and 20mph can be the difference between life and death for anyone involved in an accident.”
