WITH reference to the article “Challenge on school places failed” by Louise Acford, (The Argus, October 13), I am writing as I feel Patcham High School is still given a bad name and I think it is very uncalled for.

Mostly the school is moaned about by snobs in Patcham who have no idea what the school is really like! I hear many clueless people comment on the school and ask them “have you any children at the school”? Of course, their answer is no. So how can they judge it?

These single-minded people’s comments infuriate me. If they aren’t happy with their children going to the local school, then move is my answer.

I have four children aged seven, 12, 16 and 17. My older two children attended Patcham High School and came out with good results.

Dean attends Northbrook College and the school assisted him tremendously. He had some rocky patches but the school helped him achieve what he did. The pastoral care at Patcham High is 100%.

Daniel is in his last year at college and choosing universities at present. My 12-year-old is at Patcham and the school is fantastic with her needs. Every pupil is thought of. What more can a parent want?

So my advice is don’t judge Patcham if you have no children attending. Stop listening to gossip and ask parents who have children at the school for their views.

As the article in the paper said: “Patcham has made great strides.” I know their exam results are improving. Please everyone, give Patcham High a break and support rather than criticise.
