Pink Floyd star buys Hove mansion

Pink Floyd star David Gilmour has bought a £3 million six-storey mansion in Hove.

And the legendary guitarist has embarked on a major restoration of the building.

The musician, who was ranked 742nd in this year's Sunday Times Rich List with a £78 million fortune, currently lives near Crowborough. Former bandmate Roger Waters also lives in Sussex, near Horsham.

Gilmour's luxurious new house has six bedrooms, five bathrooms, parking spaces for four cars and includes a two-bedroom flat on the ground floor.

At last - a PROPER musician has moved into the city as opposed to the talentless nonentities that we have all tired of reading about (Peter Andre / David van Day, etc).
Hang out the bunting, and let's give him a real welcome.

Isn't this the same fella who have a substantial amount of his wealth away to a homeless charity if memory serves me rightly? Good on him if its the person i'm thinking of.

and he played Live 8 for political reasons but when albums sales rocketed on the back of it, gave away the extra profits because he did the concert only to bring the plight of world poverty the fore. Top bloke.

Shows how much you know "Nick Griffin" ---- Gary Moore lives just a few blocks away, so hopefully they'll be gigging together in Gary's local,The Neptune, soon.

Why is that firm of architects now called LCE instead of Lomax, Cassidy, Edwards?

Too many of these dreary initials about.

After all, Gilmour's group did not call itself PF.

Gilmour's a good guy. Besides being a fine guitarist he actually does stuff for people in a less fortunate position than himself.

Yeah I agree with the comment above. Too many TLA's bandied about nowadays. The yanks love it, they can't get enough of 'em (Three Letter Acronyms).

It says a lot about our city when somebody who can choose to live anywhere they want, chooses to live here.

I didn't know Gary Moore lived in Hove.
But I think you missed my point - which was how unusual and refreshing it was to see an article in the Argus that refers to a real musician and songwriter, and all round top bloke - rather than the normal 'X Factor chav-world Z list' nonentities that normally feature here.
Anyway, he's very welcome!

Shows how much you know salty-pete- Gary Moore used to live a few blocks away until several years ago, but no longer! Anyway, Gilmour is a legend and did indeed donate a massive sum after selling a house in London. His purchase in Hove is very old news by the way!

so when he decides to 'improve' the building and the architect says "Hmmm, not sure about that one" Dave will simply reply "all in all it's............" you get the gist.

TOP TOP fella, came to a gig at a pub I ran, gig was a Pink Floyd Tribute act. He had a great time and was, as always, extremely courteous and polite.

A true legend in a world now filled with wannabes

Neither 'old rocker' or 'heavy metal'.
Maybe you should listen to some of his work. You might be surprised!

Dave Gilmour, eh? And the news is that Emerson, Lake and Palmer have reformed. Did Jimmy Pursey die in vain?
