Six weeks of tree clearance work on A27 begins

Work to clear vegetation and remove dead, dying and hazardous trees around the A27 in East and West Sussex will begin on Monday 09 November for six weeks.

The vegetation and tree clearance, between Pevensey and Havant, is being carried out to maintain safety for all road users and adjacent landowners. Plans for any replanting will follow once the clearance has been completed.

To minimise the disruption to drivers the work will be carried out overnight (8pm until 6am). For the safety of road users and the workforce there will be lane closures on dual carriageway sections of the A27, and on single carriageway sections, temporary traffic signals.

Martin Wright, Route Performance Manager for Sussex, said: “This work will maintain a safe roadside environment for road users on this section of the A27. As part of the Highways Agency’s commitment to maintaining and improving the environment, a design for replanting required at appropriate alternative sites, will be completed once the felling has been carried out.”
