Brighton and Hove gets involved

The Get Involved launch at Hove Town Hall is in full swing, with hundreds of people finding out how to contribute to their community.

Organisations ranging from local NHS bosses to the Brighton and Hove Food Partnership have stalls giving information about what they do.

Young people are taking part in a speed dating event to meet councillors.

At 3.30pm this afternoon, Nicholas Owen will chair a Question Time, with a panel of councillors and representatives from the police, health service and community sector.

SCIP, which provides IT services to charities and community groups, is filming people at the event and posting the videos to YouTube.

Here is Faith Matyszak talking about why she has come along:

The Get Involved campaign aims to get people more involved in local democracy, from having their say on planning applications to becoming a councillor.
