Mass demonstration planned against Brighton job cuts

Unions across Brighton and Hove could get together for a mass demonstration to “fight back” against a string of redundancies.

The idea was put forward at a public meeting to discuss the ongoing job threat in Brighton and Hove and give advice to those who have already lost their jobs.

Thousands of workers could march in the city as early as February if plans for the demonstration go ahead.

Dozens of workers and trade unionists attended the meeting at the Phoenix Community Centre, in Phoenix Place, Brighton, including staff from Lloyds TSB, the University of Sussex and Threshers.

Trade union council general secretary Bill North, who chaired the meeting, said more workers and unions should unite in a show of strength.

Will they be marching in their own time or the Council's time - ie at our own expense

Do you want to try READING the article (especially the bit that says "....including staff from Lloyds TSB, the University of Sussex and Threshers.") and then having another go at commenting?

Quite what "the Council's time" has to do with it is presumably something known only to you.

Im not sure this will achiever anything. Threshers for example are skint. Theres nothing they can do to keep afloat. Its a horrible position to be in, trust me know about it. Bit im afraid theres very little that can be done. And thats one of the worst things about being made redundant, the feeling that you are totally helpess. Doesnt matter how hard you worked.

" Mass demonstration planned against Brighton job cuts "
and,
Thousands of "workers" could march in the city ?
What a load of TOSH.
I'd love to know how many so called " Dozens of workers" were there.
But I read the article, then wished I hadn't.
Why print such rubbish ?

Read the article then wished you hadn't? Are you this indecisive about everything you do?

No don't answer that because you might "wish you hadn't". But then again if you don't you might wish you had. Oh dear, it's such a bind isn't it?
