Elvis Presley cured Brighton man's broken back

A man claimed just one touch from Elvis Presley cured his broken neck and back.

Michael Knight was left with horrific injuries after falling while working at sea.

But said he believes the hand of the King, who was visiting Palm Springs Hospital in 1972, turned him from a crock around the clock to a rock’n’rolling hounddog.

Michael, who became an Elvis impersonator after completing his recovery, is now hoping to perform a charity gig to mark what would have been Elvis’ 75th birthday.

The 53-year-old, who is just one of the Sussex fans set to mark the anniversary today, explained: “I was on a banana boat serving with the Merchant Navy off the coast of Florida when I broke my back and neck during a storm.

“I was taken to Palm Springs Hospital where Elvis was getting a check-up for his heart flutters.

“He was told about my injuries and agreed to come and see me.”

But Mr Knight, of Carlton Hill, Brighton, said the meeting was defintely a case of a little less conversation, after a nurse injected him with strong painkillers, minutes before Elvis swept in.

He added: “I can't remember much but I remember he was all dressed in black and he touched my shoulder and told me to get well.

“I was told by doctors that I would never walk again.

“I believe that the good luck he gave me made a difference and got me back together again.”

The Argus is going to be hard put to come up with a more absurd story by the end of December. But we can be sure that it will try.

So this guy claims one touch from Elvis cured a broken back and neck.

Yet the King couldn't seem to cure himself of the variety of ailments he suffered such as an enlarged colon and high blood pressure. He also didn't seem able to prevent his death.

Quick, get this Michael Knight some homeopathic medicine - he seems dumb enough to use it!

Has this story been lifted from the National Enquirer, or some other 'quality' newspaper - or is it a genuine Argus homegrown piece of total nonsense?
Elvis Presley... the original 'pub singer'...

Is the Argus turning into the National Enquirer? The content lately seems to point that way, i.e this story and the Eastbourne fat family saga. When are we going to read about hamster diets?

Classic Argus story. Brilliant.
Now, if they could balance this fluff with a bit of news...

What is wrong with the Argus? Yesterday it was a story about burying rubbish to turn it into oil and coal. Some people actually believe what they read in the papers. The Argus needs to be more responsible.

Well that is VERY different from what the Argus are claiming in the article.

As for proving the docs wrong - good on you. Glad to hear your story was a success in the end.

If Argus readers were to adapt Elvis's habit of shooting a gun at television programmes which met with his disfavour, then there would be a boom in monitor sales throughout Brighton and Hove.

I should think Mary Mears's favourite Elvis number is "A Mess o' Blues".

Are you suggesting that the Argus made up the statement "A man claimed just one touch from Elvis Presley cured his broken neck and back." You should sue for libel - or would that knock out the free publicity you've now got?
