Every princess dreams of being swept off her feet by a knight in shining armour.
For Isabel Wake, this dream became a reality when her boyfriend Darren Middleton proposed while wearing a full suit of armour.
The estate agent hired the suit for £500 and took a Medieval Age planning the special day at Brighton Bandstand.
Darren sent a text message to his friends and family on the day asking them to meet him at the spot at 1pm.
He also asked Isabel, his 32-year-old girlfriend of two and half years, to meet him there.
As they were waiting Darren got out of a taxi and made his way to the bandstand.
He had difficulty speaking through the armour's helmet and so created a series of cards with messages on.
He said: “She saw the armour and was quite shocked. At that point she didn't know what was going on.
“There were lots of messages on the cards but I held the visor up and popped the question.
“I can tell you it was a bit of a struggle getting back up again from one knee with the heavy armour on, but the fact Isabel said yes made it all the more easier.”
The happy couple are planning a wedding for next summer.
