Detectives are treating the death of man whose body was found in a Seaford flat as murder.
Blood dripping through a shop's ceiling led police to the discovery of a man's body in a flat in Sutton Park Road on Monday, next door to the Moon of India restaurant.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "Although the body has not been formally identified, it is believed to be a 27-year-old man linked with the restaurant.
"Extensive forensic examinations of the scene mean that a post-mortem is still yet to be held.
"This may not happen today and therefore the formal identification may be further delayed."
Police said they are making house to house inquiries and studying CCTV from the area.
Detective Chief Inspector Adam Hibbert, who is leading the Sussex Police major crime branch investigation, said: "This is a tragic incident, which we are now treating as murder.
"I appeal to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in that area from 11pm on Sunday until we found the body at lunchtime the next day to come forward.
"We are keen to hear from anyone who feels they can help the investigation.
"The forensic examination of the scene will take some time, as we seek to preserve as much evidence as possible. At this time I cannot say how the man died, but every effort is being made in conducting a thorough investigation."
Anyone with information is asked to call Sussex Police on 0845 6070999 quoting Operation Scotsford or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
