Brighton drink licence granted

First published in News

An alcohol licence has been granted to a new pool bar planned for a former Spanish restaurant.

Rock and Roller, which is set to open in Western Road, Brighton, will be allowed to serve drinks from 10am to 1pm and stay open until 1.30am.

The licence was granted by Brighton and Hove City Council despite opposition from nearby residents.

Alcohol from 10am to 1pm? 3 hours a day? In the morning? Then stays open for a further 12 and half hours until 1:30am? You sure Argus?

Ha ha seems like the licensing department is getting tough on all day drinking, good on them. 3 hours drinking is enough for anyone.

I wonder why the Council ignored complaints from locals on this matter but took notice when it came to the Brighton O?

Wasn't the Tea-cosy reported on the kings arms site as starting some kind of war with them..

At first they wanted to take over The Hub at the bottom of St James's street but as the Kings Arms closed they set their eyes on it. I don't know any more. You're right, they did send horrible emails to the owners of The Kings Arms and were pleased to see them shut down. Childish behaviour.

I think the point the anxious residents were making is no doubt that UNLIKE buses, the noise could be constant as it's not transitory like noisy buses, which tend to move from place to place, unless the pub has wheels and moves around picking up customers too? lol!

Indeed. but then if venue is correctly sound proofed, most if not all sound can be blocked.

With the fact it has a license for drink til 1pm (and stays open til 1.30am) I can't see people nursing a beer for 12 hours - lol.

It is infact licensed til 1am :)

From a classy Spanish restaurant (Pinxto) to a down market bar. This is the way Brighton is heading.
