Reigate Priory 225-7
Banstead 69 all out

After draws in the previous two weeks, Reigate Priory returned to winning ways by overwhelming Banstead at the weekend.

Priory are again applying pressure at the top of the Castle Lager Surrey Championship Premier League.

Next week's game against leaders Spencer takes on yet greater importance now Priory are alone in second place.

Simon Ecclestone opened the innings and started in typical fashion with a straight driven four and he made the Banstead opening attack pay for any wayward deliveries.

His opening partner Matt Bennett was more circumspect, but the pair batted well to take the score along to 61 in quick time, before Ecclestone fell to a catch behind from Banstead's overseas player Imran Javed.

Banstead's bowling regained the initiative with the accurate spin of Simon Day, and Javed picking up the wickets of David Loft, Chris Murtagh, and then Matt Bennett for 44.

But Sairaj Bahutule was looking in good form and with Macmillan ensured there was no further loss of wickets. With Bahutule's 53, Macmillan's 27 and a well timed 28 not out from Kamran Mirza, Priory were able to declare just short of their final over, leaving Banstead 46 overs to chase their 225.

Banstead started well but Priory's Jimmy Bovill soon claimed the scalps of Hodd, Offer and Woodward in quick succession to leave them reeling at 30-3. Bahutule came on to and the wickets tumbled in quick succession. Loft ran out Javed. Bahutule wrapped up the innings to claim his fourth wicket, and Bovill finished with fine figures of 5-39.

Priory are now well placed to challenge for the title, and still have to play leaders Spencer twice.

Reigate Priory's seconds beat Walton on Thames' seconds 144 all out to 137 all out.

Priory's seconds move them 13 points clear at the top of the Premier league table.
