Doing a marathon is a tough ordeal for any runner but for Kim Lo it is her ultimate challenge.
The 30-year-old only has two toes after losing eight of them when she contracted meningitis as a teenager.
Mrs Lo has never let her disability get in the way of her passion for running and is determined to finish the 26.2 mile course.
She has taken part in shorter races but the London Marathon next month will be the longest she has ever run.
Mrs Lo, of Mill Green Road, Haywards Heath, hopes her experience will inspire others whose lives have been affected by the devastating illness.
She contracted meningococcal septicaemia and pneumonia in 1997 when she was 18 and spent a week in intensive care and another month in hospital.
As well as losing all but her two big toes, she lost a lot of skin and padding from her feet and achilles tendons.
Mrs Lo is running the marathon for the Meningitis Trust.
