Owner's warning after cat attacked with bleach in Hove

Residents have received an anonymous letter from a woman whose cat was attacked with bleach.

The note was posted through doors in Seafield Road, Hove, warning them about what had happened to the pet.

The matter has been reported to Sussex Police.

Fortunately, the cat survived the attack, which happened on February 28.

The woman warned: “Throwing neat bleach over a cat is in no way the correct or legal way of dealing with this. It is totally unacceptable to treat an animal in this way.

“My cat was very lucky to survive.

“He nearly lost his sight, had very burnt skin and if he had ingested any more of the bleach he would have died.

“It took hours to clean him which was thoroughly traumatic for him and me, plus hundreds of pounds in vet bills to save his life.”

A tad extreme, however can understand when someone with young children has a garden that the local cat decides is a toilet.
Maybe someone has a good way to "train" these wayward felines

Living in the real world - have I misinterpreted your post or are you saying you understand why someone would throw bleach on a defenceless animal, causing it pain and suffering... I hope I'm wrong!! :)

You might find a water pistol to be the best way, then the cats remember which garden they got soaked in and avoid it after the first couple of times. Or get your own cat, which will defend its territory and keep other cats away More than one is best for doing that though, as they gang up on other cats which then avoid the garden. Worked for me anyway.

The law needs to change to make cat owners responsible for the damage they do to other peoples property! watch the attitude of cat owners change overnight.
