Residents have received an anonymous letter from a woman whose cat was attacked with bleach.
The note was posted through doors in Seafield Road, Hove, warning them about what had happened to the pet.
The matter has been reported to Sussex Police.
Fortunately, the cat survived the attack, which happened on February 28.
The woman warned: “Throwing neat bleach over a cat is in no way the correct or legal way of dealing with this. It is totally unacceptable to treat an animal in this way.
“My cat was very lucky to survive.
“He nearly lost his sight, had very burnt skin and if he had ingested any more of the bleach he would have died.
“It took hours to clean him which was thoroughly traumatic for him and me, plus hundreds of pounds in vet bills to save his life.”
