A dog walker has discovered human remains in woodland next to a car park.
The alarm was raised at 7pm yesterday evening and police attended the scene.
The remains were found next to a popular dog walking path off Alfriston Road, Seaford.
Detective Inspector Ian Williams, from Sussex Police, is leading the investigation but does not yet know whether the remains are of a man or a woman or how long they have been there.
Officers are still at the scene and are carrying out a further search of the woodland.
The remains were carried away in a body bag at 12.45pm today.
