A post mortem and forensic tests will be carried out today on the skeleton found in a Seaford car park.

The human remains were discovered by a dog walker in woodland close to the High and Over car park off Alfriston Road on Friday evening.

Police spent the weekend carrying out searches of the area to see if any clues as to the identity of the body could be found.

This morning a spokeswoman for Sussex Police said they still don't know who the person is or how they died.

She said: "Enquiries to establish the identity of the body and the cause of death are continuing.

"One line of enquiry is that this is a missing person from some years ago.

"A post mortem is to be set and forensic tests are being carried out."

The death is not being treated as suspicious.
