Sussex cheese factory raid goes wrong

2:32pm Wednesday 17th March 2010

An attempted raid of a former cheese factory was foiled when two burglars were disturbed by police.

The pair fled when spotted by officers at the factory at Twineham Grange Farm, leaving their ford Transit pick up truck behind.

Police were called to the farm in Bob Lane, Twineham, at 10pm on Monday evening. As they arrived, two men ran from the property.

Officers discovered the men had broken into the building and driven the Transit inside before starting to load equipment onto it.

The men are described as 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in tall, both of stocky build and wearing dark trousers and dark grey fleece style tops. One was wearing a chequered shirt, possibly blue.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the white-cabbed truck, registration L961 FKM, in the area before 10pm on Monday to contact 0845 60 70 999 quoting serial 1843 of 15/03.
