Cocktails, crooners and custard pies will be harnessed to help Brighton’s digital movers and shakers take part in massive global fundraiser this month.
This spring’s Twestival Brighton, held on Thursday, March 25 at new venue the Hi Fi Lounge, will take on the theme of a Speakeasy – or Tweeteasy.
But instead of police raids, the organisers are hoping people will instead raid their own pockets to help Concern WorldWide, which brings education to the world’s poorest children.
Among the prizes on offer are a personalised answerphone message from Nigel Planer, artwork from local artists Linda Boucher and Shardcore, and clothing from Kerb, Sarah Elwick and Natasha Bailie.
Organiser David Lockie said: “This Brightwest will be a Tweeteasy, harking back to the era of prohibition in the States.
“We've had to keep the venue so secret for so long to avoid a police raid on the night: keep the secret tight or we might still have the local plod a-knocking.
“The venue will appear closed, but for those in the know, just knock on the door – ‘Shave and a haircut’ for entry."
Tickets, priced at £5, are now on sale and can be purchased here.
The last Twestival raised $250,000 worldwide for local charities, including £1,400 in Brighton for the Martletts Hospice.
City businesses which have donated prizes or sponsorship include Oban Multilingual, Garage Studios, Josh Vanderbroek, The Werks, The Argus, Silicon Beach Training, Rise Sales Development, Red Jelly, Plain Lazy and the Small Batch Coffee Company.
