Contrary to what Mr Jones wrote, councillors Jan Young and Averil Older are doing a fantastic job tackling many issues in Hove (Letters, June 20).
As regards the Brighton and Hove City Council meeting earlier this month about the future of the King Alfred, the council agreed to increase the number of flats from 400 to 750.
The leisure facilities had to be decreased because of this increase and it was agreed to shrink the pool from 300sqm to 200sqm. It was also agreed this would mean there would be no room for an indoor bowls facility.
Keith Taylor (Green) voiced his concerns about the increase in flats and problems with the infrastructure and voted against the increase.
The increase was insisted upon by Karis, the developer, to make the site more commercially viable.
The other Green councillor, Bill Randall, voted for the increase. Paul Elgood abstained because of a "conflict of interest".
Councillors Jan Young and Averil Older were not eligible to vote.
After the votes had been cast, there was a tie so Mr Bodfish casted the yes vote, which was needed.
