Kristy Baldock's story is heart-warming and will give great encouragement to all parents whose children are born with spina bifida (The Argus, October 14).
When born, her parents were told to prepare for her funeral. Now, aged 17, Kristy has become one of the best wheelchair athletes in the country.
Kristy has just won eight gold medals at the National Wheelchair Games. She has also won many medals for swimming during the past six years.
This has been achieved by Kristy's courage and determination with the full support of her family and friends.
