James Kirtley's indifferent start to the season has cost him a place in the England one-day squad.
The Sussex vice-captain was left out of the 15-man party for the NatWest Series against New Zealand and West Indies later this month. His place has gone to Lancashire's uncapped fast bowler Sajid Mahmood.
Kirtley has taken just four wickets in five limited overs matches since returning to the side after England's tour of the West Indies in May when he bowled six competitive overs.
