You do us a service in criticising and advising bus company operators in your comment column, "Route Revolt", (The Argus, Jun 8).

For the past six months the residents of this part of Kemp Town have had five buses an hour using our road as a rat run.

There is no actual service for, as Roger French, managing director of the Brighton and Hove Bus Company, puts it: "We find it suitable for our turn round manoeuvre".

Our strictures about speed, safety and social considerations remain unanswered. Now, in your report about the sudden incursion of buses into Buckingham Road, Brighton, you have Mr French saying his drivers can, in effect, roam at will providing they meet legal requirements.

In practice this is surely a nonsense and one would expect those who dispose of our affairs to be concerned.

In general I am happy to pay tribute to a pretty efficient bus service but the management style does not seem to be over concerned with consultation or accountability - the taking of front page advertisments in The Argus in which local worthies deploy their cliches is no answer to criticism.
