We read these days that various activities we have always enjoyed are now considered unsafe.

The residents of our small block of flats have been told by the nervous managing agent that they cannot employ a window cleaning company as it is too dangerous.

It is almost impossible to find individual window cleaners and in any case they would not tackle a block of flats so we are expected to tolerate uncleaned windows permanently.

Having lived in London throughout the Blitz, I find it unbelievable that it is now considered dangerous to have the windows cleaned.

There is a certain amount of danger everywhere and if we are not prepared to take risks, we will rapidly become a nation of wimps.

I wonder what the young men being sent to Iraq would think about this?
