New Pagham manager Gary Shaw has pledged to "fight tooth and nail" to lift the struggling Lions from the County League division one drop zone.
Former reserve team chief Shaw has taken charge of the Nyetimber Lane club after Paul Gilbert stepped down from the hotseat following the 3-0 defeat to Sidlesham.
Shaw said: "I have told the lads that we can lift things all round and that with a good work ethic we can pull away from the bottom. We've got the personnel, now it's time they showed how good they are."
Meanwhile, Pagham chairman Steve Newdick has revealed the club's ambitious plan to sign Paul Gascoigne has been thwarted.
"We tried to lure Paul but it was very much a long-shot and we have received a polite no from his people.
"It's a shame but Paul feels he can still play at a much higher level."
