Your regular letters correspondent Richard Goodliff has really missed the point in relation to the new Tesco store in Church Road, Hove (Letters, August 1).

The new store will bring the area a much needed choice of well-priced everyday items which Tesco is known for.

If Mr Goodliff lives opposite the store, I bet a penny to a pound that he will be popping in for something or other not long after it opens.

Tesco has spent a lot of money providing a replacement school and will no doubt provide employment for 50-plus people.

After all, Mr Goodliff, what did it replace? A couple of redundant rusty old gas tanks, I believe.
