Three female explorers from the great Victorian age of discovery venture through time and space in this comedy of Pythonesque absurdity.

The intrepid trio battle through perilous jungles and across icy plains, eventually ending up in Fifties America.

On the way, they encounter a barrage of objects, characters and ideas from the future.

How will three genteel ladies from the ultra-conservative 19th Century cope with the pressures of modern fashion and feminism?

Eric Overmeyer's surreal time-trekking tour-de-force, which features hilarious and touching performances from Kate Van Dike, Victoria Gould and Emma Kilbey, pushes both physical and imaginative boundaries within the confines of the New Venture Theatre.

Brighton girl Gould, who plays Mary, is perhaps best known in her role as top reporter Polly Becker in EastEnders. More recently, she acted alongside Steve Coogan in the film The Parole Officer.

On The Verge is the fourth production from the accomplished Sweetspot Theatre Company, whose success - like this play - seems limitless.

Starts 7.45pm, except May 25 matinee at 2.30pm. Tickets £7/£6 cons. Call 01273 746118.
