Albion keeper Dave Beasant insists they will not be "lambs to the slaughter" at Premiership-bound Leicester on Saturday.

The veteran No. 1 is confident the relegation-haunted Seagulls can make life tough for his old chum Micky Adams.

Beasant and Adams were team-mates at Southampton. Albion's 44-year-old custodian acted as his part-time goalkeeping coach at Brentford and Fulham, and the pair were also together at Nottingham Forest when Adams was reserve coach.

Their friendship will be put to one side for 90 minutes as Albion try to wreck a promotion party for their former boss and the Foxes at The Walkers Stadium.

"I know one person who won't be expecting a result and that's Micky Adams," Beasant said. "He is going to respect us. He has seen us play enough times.

"He knows when we do perform we are as good as anyone in the division. He won't be under-estimating us and we won't be going there as lambs to the slaughter.

"It will be a game we are up for, at a nice place against the potential champions.

"The good thing is the gaffer (Steve Coppell) doesn't set out for draws, he goes for victories.

"We have been positive in our last few games and I'm sure we will go there with a positive attitude again."

Beasant believes Albion can recover to put the frighteners on their relegation rivals following last Saturday's 2-0 setback against Preston at Withdean.

"They were probably looking at us and thinking we had a good chance to get three points at home to Preston when they had difficult games.

"It was disappointing, especially the way we have been performing at home. We've made it quite a tough place for people to come and we've got to make sure we get back into that routine again.

"We could resign Sheffield Wednesday to relegation, so we have got to make sure we put in a good performance against Leicester and then are up for the game against Sheffield Wednesday on Monday."

Paul Kitson came safely through a first half run-out in a 0-0 draw for the Reserves against QPR at Northwood FC last night.

Kitson reported stiffness in his back after playing a half in the Reserves last week. Assistant-manager Bob Booker said: "He looked a lot more mobile this time, so that is an improvement."

Shaun Wilkinson was sent off five minutes from the end for a second bookable offence.
