Spending a week on an island with veteran DJ Tony Blackburn could leave many of us screaming "Help! get me out of here!"

But Denise Hopkins, of Broadwater, Worthing, could not be happier that she is about to spend seven days with the poptastic legend of the airwaves.

Denise has won a week's holiday to St Lucia with Tony after entering a competition on Capital Gold Radio.

She said: "I'm so excited, but nervous too, because Tony is so well-known. It should be a real laugh. I can't wait to get out there."

Denise rang the radio station as part of a competition called "I'm a listener! Get me into paradise".

She said: "I couldn't believe it when I won."

Tony was the first DJ to spin a record for Radio One in 1967. His career was given a new lease of life when he won the TV show, "I'm a celebrity! Get me out of here!" in September.

Denise said: "He was definitely my favourite on the show because he seemed level-headed."

Tony said he cannot wait to meet Denise to swap stories about Worthing - where he went on holiday as a child.

He said: "I am over the moon that Denise won. I spent much of my childhood in Ferring.

"I am sure she will be pleased to swap the pebbles of Worthing for the golden sand of St Lucia."
