Arun district councillors were today discussing redevelopment of the West Bank area in Littlehampton.
They want to see better facilities for river-related businesses at the site but stress there will be no residential development.
Councillors are due to discuss setting up a West Bank development brief, a project plan and establishing an advisory group to oversee the work.
Council conservation and design adviser Brian Bannister said: "We want to stimulate river-related businesses and then to explore the needs for these types of businesses."
