I think Mr. Stanaway somewhat misses the point. It is a condition of membership of the EC that a nation has no penalty of death for murder on its statutes.

It is also the job of Parliament not merely to echo the sentiments of the public but to modify them to protect society from rampant disorder; the kind we saw at the arraignment of Ms Carr.

It is important to remember that "a life for a life" is an oxymoron.
