Eastbourne Eagles are through to the Elite League Knockout Cup final.

The Sussex squad pulverised Wolverhampton on their own track last night, winning 49-40 to complete a 23-point aggregate victory, 101-78, in what was expected to be a closely-run tie.

The home team had no answer to the Eagles, who led by 14 points from the first leg at Arlington on Sunday and simply got better and better.

Amazingly, the contest was all over by heat 11 when the visitors led by 36-29 on the night.

Eastbourne will now meet the holders, Peterborough, in the final.

Eagles trailed by four points early in the match, but a tremendous 5-1 by Mark Loram and David Norris in heat five put the visitors into the lead and calmed the nerves.

Loram won it, but Norris earned the plaudits by keeping Peter Karlsson and Jesper B. Jensen behind him.

It was a typical team effort by Norris, who finished the night with four bonus points in his paid ten.

Wolves briefly regained the advantage after a maximum by David Howe and Mikael Karlsson, but another 5-1 to Eagles in heat nine, this time by Dean Barker and Toni Svab over Peter Karlsson and Jensen, put the visitors in front by 28-26.

Two races later it was all over bar the shouting as Loram and Norris raced to a 5-0 as the Wolves pairing of Paul Hurry and Adam Skornicki both came to grief.

The previously unbeaten Mikael Karlsson then suffered successive defeats at the hands of first Joe Screen and then Loram before Eagles rubbed salt into the wounds by inflicting yet another 5-1 on the hapless Wolves in heat 14, this time via Svab and Stefan Andersson.

Wolverhampton: Mikael Karlsson 15, Paul Hurry 6, David Howe 6, Peter Karlsson 5, Adam Skornicki 5, Jesper B. Jensen 2, Lee Dicken 1.

Eastbourne: Mark Loram 13, Toni Svab 12, Joe Screen 10, David Norris 6, Dean Barker 5, Stefan Andersson 3, Savalas Clouting 0.
