Alan Nunn was not quite right to claim the Conservative Party has lost its core values (Letters, April 2).

The Conservatives have always been interested in protecting the rights of minorities such as fox hunters and hereditary peers.

What is different this time is their keenness to embrace the causes of ethnic minorities, single parents, gay men and women, travellers, wounded Pokmon - in fact, anything to demonstrate they are inclusive.

We weren't fooled in the days of Queen Thatcher and we're not fooled now.
