Mark Knee is revelling in the role of makeshift striker after bagging four goals in the 7-1 division one destruction of Yeading at Woodside Road.

Gavin Geddes (2) and Ben Carrington scored to complete Rebels' biggest win of the season.

Knee said: "We've been unlucky in a few games and deserved to stick a few in the net. This has been a long time coming."

The converted full-back has netted six goals in two matches.

Manager Barry Lloyd brought Knee off the bench in the last ten minutes at Uxbridge and he responded by scoring two goals in two minutes in a strikers role to give his side a 3-2 win.

Knee, who played up front for his previous club Lewes, recently lost his regular left-back spot to Chris Hibberd but is now looking to further excel in his new position.

He said: "When Lloydy came in my dad had a chat with him and reminded him I'd played up front with Lewes.

"Barry had other ideas for a left-back and that's why I've been on the bench for the last few weeks.

"Little did I know he would stick me up front and its worked out quite well."

Worthing's first home league win in three-and-a half months extended their unbeaten run to four games .

Knee said: "The win has lifted the gloom.

"Confidence is returning throughout the team and we want to finish the season on a high before next term."

Worthing's victory was gained after they fell behind to an early goal by Matt Miller and Lloyd was delighted with the entertainment value his side displayed.

He said: "We needed a result like this to confirm we are a decent side. We want to play more football, I want to be entertained as much as anyone else and we're starting to do that."

Rebels turned it on to score five after the break, Geddes being on target either side of the interval after Knee equalised on 28 minutes.

Knee hit his second from a Geddes cross and, after Carrington scored a well-worked fifth, Knee completed his hat-trick by firing home 14 minutes from time. A foul by John Murphy on substitute Gavin Jones gave Rebels a penalty, and, although goalkeeper Simon Chang blocked his spot- kick, Knee followed up to tuck in the rebound.

A Matt Russell late show enabled Bognor to revive their division one promotion bid at Tooting and Mitcham.

The striker secured a 3-2 victory for Rocks when he fired home a cross from substitute David Wright four minutes from time in an entertaining game full of chances.

Manager Jack Pearce was delighted as Bognor bounced back from a four-goal midweek drubbing at title rivals Harlow.

He said: "I was pleased for David Wright after he wasn't selected in the starting line up, and Michael Birmingham and Matt Russell worked as hard. It was a good result."

Bognor took the lead in the fourth minute when David Birmingham crossed for Richard Hudson to head home.

The home side equalised on the stroke of half-time through Nigel Webb.

Rocks regained the lead in the 50th minute when Michael Birmingham seized on a rebound after Russell, put clear by Wright, had his shot saved by Tony Webb Bognor conceded an equaliser two minutes later when they failed to clear a corner and Nigel Webb pounced for his second goal.

Rocks goalkeeper Craig Stoner impressed with a string of fine saves.
