Fancy appearing on the big screen next to Vinnie Jones?

The search is on for Sussex people to take part in a series of films to be shot in the area during the summer.

A company specialising in recruiting extras for film and television work has been engaged by film company Metropolis to cast for six films.

It wants people to come forward and appear alongside the stars as extras.

Screensearch was started by former bank manager Ian Turner in Haywards Heath five years ago It has supplied extras, walk-ons and models to Casualty, The Vice, Family Affairs, Mean Machne, Sleepy Hollow, Snatch, Gormanghast, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, The Railway Children and Sky One's Dream Team.

Casting executive Sara Bray said: "We are always looking for reliable and enthusiastic people. Anybody can become an extra, as long as they are fully aware of what is expected of them.

"You don't have to be gorgeous or beautiful.

"In fact, normal-looking people usually make better film extras.

"Being an extra can be fun. It is a fantastic way to gain an insight into the world of film and television and earn a bit of extra cash along the way."

The company start-ed towards the end of 1997,primarily as an extras agency with a vision and a determination to provide the best possible service and products to the film and television industry.

Since then, it has developed the first CD-ROM on which clients can search for extras using Screen-search's casting database, rather than having to thumb through a book, as with most other agencies.

Sara said: "We have been going from strength to strength, constantly improving and developing our systems and techniques.

"The CD-ROM has evolved into the first truly searchable on-line casting system.

"We have worked on a host of new and upcoming ITV dramas, advertisements for Seeboard, Pot Noodle, Wrigleys and a yet to be shown Addidas advert featuring David Beckham.

"One advertisement for Seeboard was filmed in Brighton. We supplied a group of extras to play as a football team.

"We have recently helped on productions for Communicopia, a Brighton-based film company and we have strong ties with the Southern Screen Commission, which has helped promote our services.

"In the future, we aim to be a comprehensive source for film and television producers and we hope to become the country's leading casting agency."
