Chichester youngster Mark Campbell-James, representing the Royal Yacht Association, has won the Hardy Match Racing Cup in Sydney.

The Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron conducted the Cup with six overseas teams from New Zealand, Italy, Great Britain and the United States joined by four Australian teams from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane yacht clubs in a ISAF Grade 3 International event.

Campbell-James, with RSYS members, Andrew Hutchinson and Richard Ryan, as his crew, in Group B was unbeaten in the first round-robin. He was second after round two.

He then comfortably beat a team from Sandringham Yacht Club skippered by Scott Walton in his semi-final before beating Michael Dunstan (RSYC) in the final.

Patron of the 2001 Hardy Cup is Sir James Hardy, the former Americas Cup, Admirals Cup, world champion and Olympic yachtsman and prominent RSYS member.
