Christine Martin has been sharing her bath with some friends - millions of squirming maggots.

Christine said she had no fears about the wriggling creatures as she runs a fishing tackle shop and has been handling them for years.

She sat in the tub of ten gallons of maggots for an hour-and-a-half to raise money for charity.

Christine, 56, who lives in Horsham, said: "My rotten husband was going to take the maggots out of the freezer so they warmed up a bit overnight.

"But he left it until the morning so they were much colder than they would have been.

"It was really uncomfortable. You could feel them wriggling against your skin and it was like having pins and needles.

"They got in a few places they shouldn't have done."

Christine, who runs the Angling Specialist store, in Queen Street, Horsham, was joined at Horsham bandstand on Friday by friend Lin Pinch, who bathed in a bath of cold custard.

The event raised more than £300 for medical charity Action Research.
