Albion boss Peter Taylor is promoting Bobby Zamora's case for an England under-21 call-up.

Taylor believes the Seagulls' goalscoring ace has the potential and should make England his international choice, not Trinidad and Tobago.

Barking-born Zamora qualifies to play for either country through his parents.

The Argus revealed on Tuesday that Trinidad and Tobago technical director Rene Simoes is inviting Zamora into the squad for their final World Cup qualifier against the USA on November 4.

"I haven't heard anything about that and I'd be staggered if that is the case, because I have spoken to Bobby about England under-21s," revealed Taylor.

"He is still at a nice age, so I will be pushing him for that root with the talent he is showing."

Taylor was hugely successful as England's under-21 coach during Glenn Hoddle's reign and Zamora, 20, is bound to take his advice on board.

Zamora headed his tenth goal of the season to earn Albion a point in the 2-2 draw at Notts County on Tuesday.

He will be seeking his first goal at Withdean for six games against eighth-placed Colchester United on Saturday.

Keeper Michel Kuipers is hoping to celebrate his 50th League appearance for the club with a victory which would put the second-placed Seagulls back on their promotion points target.

"Colchester is going to be a good game," said Kuipers. "If we get a home win then we are back on two points a game again."

Kuipers insists referee George Cain was to blame, not him, for Notts County's opening goal on Tuesday.

The big Dutchman claims he was impeded by another Notts player when Nick Fenton nodded them into a half-time lead from a corner.

"The ref should have given us a foul," Kuipers said. "He was all over me. I tried to go up to catch the ball and his intention was not to win it but to block me off.

"The spirit is really good. We really work hard together and try to support each other. We were away from home, 2-0 down and yet turned it around."
