MATT Wicks is ready to relieve a worry for Albion in the promotion run-in by ensuring they are not hamstrung in the centre of defence.

Wicks has spent the last couple of weeks at Lilleshall for treatment on a hamstring problem which has given him triple trouble.

He is making good progress and has pledged to be back in action within a fortnight.

The former Arsenal and Manchester United schoolboy first sustained the damage in the Withdean win against Exeter just before Christmas.

It forced him off again in last month's defeat at Cheltenham and he suffered a further setback in training.

"It feels good at the moment," Wicks said. "It's just a case of making sure I am 100 per cent ready now.

"I don't want to be in a situation again where I come back too quickly and break down, so it's a case of being over-cautious if anything to rid myself of the problem.

"I have been working very hard from nine to five every day with a lot of specialised equipment.

"You are pretty much shut off from everything else, which means you can concentrate on getting fit.

"The last setback I had was a minor one, but that was the third time so it needed looking at.

"I would like to think the latest I will be ready is another couple of weeks and I will definitely be back towards the end of the season."

That is good news for boss Micky Adams, with Danny Cullip currently sidelined as well by ankle and elbow ligament damage.

Cullip suffered a slight reaction while jogging this week.

Halifax's former Albion defender Chris Wilder has been at Lilleshall with Wicks recovering from a back operation which rules him out of next Saturday's visit by the Seagulls.
