HOOKER Mike Lewin is ready to roll back the years and lead Bognor's promotion push.

The 49-year-old veteran has been called in for the Four South East clash at home to Heathfield after Bognor were decimated by tour commitments.

The club are currently on tour to Hong Kong, which leaves skipper Tom Spurle with a threadbare squad to select from as he continues to eye the second promotion place.

Lewin is currently third or fourth choice in the No.2 shirt but Spurle has no fears about throwing him in.

He said: "Mike is a former county player and he is still as fit as a fiddle. We have got 40-odd boys out this weekend but we have got a strong second team and all the players we are calling up have played for the firsts."

Eastbourne are without their lucky charm, big flanker Matt Thompson, as they visit leaders Dartfordians.

Coach Andre Groenen said: "He's been really playing well. We have been unbeaten for five games since he has been back."

Former Scottish Exiles under-21 Chris Roberts steps into Thompson's berth while Graham Shiret may switch from prop to hooker with Jamie Baldwin ruled out.

Jon Lord is still struggling with the shin injury he picked up in last week's defeat of Hastings.

Hove hope to field the side which won at Chichester a fortnight ago as they host Park House.

Skipper Phil Ward said: "It won't be pretty but we don't really care, as long as we get the points."

Haywards Heath are expected to switch their London Two South clash with Maidstone to Waterhall as Whitemans Green is still waterlogged. Seconds flanker Justin Graham is set to play.

Worthing are sure of third place in Three South East but would love to win away to Sidcup, the side immediately above them, while Lewes and Brighton are due to meet in a derby at the Stanley Turner Ground, though that too may be switched to Waterhall.

There is a big game for East Grinstead, who can clinch fourth place if they win at home to Charlton Park.

Uckfield will be champions of Sussex One if they win at Royal & Sun Alliance.

The Sussex RFU are reminding fans that the England v Italy schoolboy international at Waterhall on April 14 is definitely on. Details on (01273) 292559.
